If you want to get a sense of Estonia, you really should visit Tartu. While Tallinn is the business and government centre of the country, Tartu has a more intellectual and cultural feel to it. While Tartu also has a beautiful old town, it is also home to Estonia’s oldest university and several must see museums. The two cities have completely different personalities, and it’d be a shame if you missed out on the more relaxed, intellectual side of Estonia.
Along the way we will also visit two historic castles, and at Põltsamaa you will be able to sample some Estonian wine, though be warned that it’s very sweet.
