Communist Estonia
Stars, Statues and Slogans

  Tour Outline

Estonians are keen to forget their Communist past, looking towards a modern future integrated with the West. However there’s still a great deal in Estonia which can provide some insight into the country’s soviet legacy, if you know where to look.
On this half day tour EstAdventures will show you Paldiski, formerly a top secret, closed military base and home to nuclear submarines. You can explore crumbling barracks, see the former sight of test nuclear reactors, and see how the town is attempting to find a new role since the military departed.
Along the way we will visit a really interesting example of a planned soviet satellite suburb, a manor house which was occupied by Soviet Special Rocket Forces, as well as the infamous bronze soldier statue.
Estonians might not want to remember, but you’ll never forget this trip to Communist Estonia!
